For week 9 of #ds106 I was tasked with re-working 2 past assignments. The first Assignment I chose to re-work is Next Time Won’t You Write With Me. I completed this writing assignment during Week 3 of this semester; the requirements and prompt can be found under the 3 star assignment A Story in Alphabet. Summary: Create a story that uses words that begin with the letters of the alphabet consecutively. For example, A big cat dug eight… But you have to go all the way to the letter Z. Try to make as much sense as possible. Or if you really can’t, then go crazy. Be creative and have fun!
Behind the Work
This was one of the last assignments I completed for my week 3 assignments and in the original blog post for the completed assignment I mention how the story doesn’t make too much sense. I decided to re-work this assignment so that it not only makes sense, but is a real story (maybe).
During the Work
I spent some time brainstorming random words I could use together. After this was a total fail, I took to WordsBeginning to see actual words that begin with each letter of the alphabet. Even after looking at this website I found it exctremely hard to string together words in order to make a coherent sentence. Finally, after re-making sentences over and over… and over I finally decided I was happy with my story!
The following story describes a tragedy of death which takes place during freezing weather. The men drank poison from cups borrowed and fell into a deep “sleep” (death). (Okay, it’s still not quite a story, but I really tried. This assignment is just really hard lol.)
”Among borrowed cups drips each fantasy. Given here, in just kelvin, lays men. No one prepared quite right. So these uttering verses won’t xaern your zs.”
